The moment HBO Commentator Larry Merchant mentions the name “Pacquiao” during his interview with Floyd Mayweather, Jr. after the fight with Mosley, the latter stutters in his response. He must be scared! Period. Mayweather has reservations about outer-space mysteries capturing his own web.
While Mayweather, Jr. denies implication of suspicion amounting to an allegation of Pacquiao using prohibited performance enhancement drugs, he sounds like no compromise will ever be made as Pacquiao is not likely to submit to his stringent demand.
Meanwhile, Merchant mentions that the Nevada Athletic Commission might take into consideration of a change of its protocol for drug screening both blood and urine. But, he says, the said state agency may not necessarily take into full consideration the entire request that Mayweather, Jr. asks of Pacquiao. This, one does not need google images to aid analysis.
Mayweather, Jr. says, “That’s all I ask,” referring to the random sampling of blood draws he demanded for Pacquiao to submit inside 30 days of the fight.
If the same scenario and intricacy of demand, inclusive of the financial sharing ratio of the said two fighters, will stand in the way, it looks like the media and all those who will be involved might just be wasting time, money and energy again. Mayweather thinks that he belongs to the Global Rich List. He believes he does not need more money and much more, Pacquiao. But, the Internal Revenue Services might ask him: How Rich Are You?
Yes, Mayweather might just be so happy he did not take the Libyan plane with 104 on board crashes in Tripoli just moments ago. But, he is very smart. He checks himself the national and local weather forecast, hurricane, radar and report in the world of boxing. And, he knows Pacquiao, the huricane, is coming to his town.
Now, Mayweather thinks to search the wealthiest members of Congress in the Philippines.
Rightly so, both fighters will just assert their respective supremacy in boxing on a parallel pathways with a remote merging tendency: fighting common opponents and letting their historical records and the boxing public judge them as to who did well in crushing them – all simply to foment and to justify their legacies, which Mayweather is willing to outsource his force.
Now, conversely, Mosley remains a hot prospect to fight Pacquiao before the close of this year.
Mosley’s stunning performance against Mayweather, Jr. in the second round may serve as a lens through which the boxing fans would have seconds thoughts: “What if… and what if…”.
But, the best one is, “What if a compromise of demands between Pacquiao and Mayweather, Jr. would still not be reached?”
