May 1st is right around the corner. Two spectacular boxing talents will collide in the ring, both bringing different styles. As most know, Mayweather is not a come forward type of fighter. Floyd likes to move and counter, and he utilizes his defense and quick hands. Shane Mosley likes to attack, and he has good power and good speed. Floyd finally will be fighting a guy that’s basically his size. His critics crack on him for fighting smaller opponents, but that will not be the case on Saturday.
The sport has had some good fights in the lighter divisions and this one should live up to the hype. Mosley seems to be getting better with age and proved that when he demolished Antonio Margarito. If he puts forth the same level of energy and aggressiveness against Floyd Mayweather he has a decent chance at victory.

Mayweather desperately wants to win this fight as so that he can shut up some of his critics. Mosley wants his piece of the Pacquiao sweepstakes, so it goes without saying how bad he wants this win. Both men have something to prove and because of the stakes involved it should be a fight worth the wait.
Recently when I spoke with former 3 time world heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis, he responded to what some people say about boxing, “Some people say that boxing is dead. Boxing isn’t dead, we have some great fights in boxing.” This fight has all of the makings of a great fight. Mosley will pressure Floyd, he will force Floyd to open up. In doing so, Mosley leaves himself in danger of being caught by a Mayweather counter punch.
This fight has everything there is to offer, speed, defense, power, agility, and hype. Hopefully it will live up to the hype and it will give the fans what they deserve.
Mississippians are excited about this fight. Most of them long for a Pacquiao vs. Mayweather fight, but this one is close to the top of their list. In Tunica, MS at Fitzgerald’s Casino I spoke with a few boxing fans about this fight. Keith Morris of Hernando, MS is a big Floyd Mayweather Jr fan. He seemed a little worried about this one, “My man Floyd is great, but so is Mosley. Shane wants this badly, and he got the tools to make it interesting but I don’t think it’s going to be enough.”
In this writers opinion, Shane Mosley indeed has the tools and the talent to grab the victory. He has power, size, and speed. Will it be enough to beat Floyd Mayweather Jr? No, I do not think it will. Floyd Mayweather’s defense and his ability to time his opponents should be his ticket to victory. Time will certainly tell.
