FAST AND FURIOUS, PACMAN FINISHED STRONG WITH THREE WHISTLE STOPS IN SARANGANI PROVINCE; SIR BOB ARUM, 78 YEARS YOUNG, FOLLOWS HIS TOP CLIENT TO EACH LAST NIGHT RALLY; MICHAEL MARLEY CONSUMES THE FABLED BALUT WITH NO KNOWN DELETERIOUS, PHYSICAL OR MENTAL EFFECTS…AT LEAST SO FAR
GENERAL SANTOS CITY?His electoral fate is now in the hands of the 223,000 registered voters in Sarangani Province.
On Sunday, Manny Pacquiao honored his mother, Aleng, on Mother’s Day. He also, as he does every Sunday, went to Mass with wife Jinkee and their children.
On Monday, voters go to the polls in Sarangani and around the entire archipelago to choose candidates at all levels, including a new president of the Republic of the Philippines.
Through most of my eight days here, Pacman has moved at languid pace. He is a nocturnal creature when not in training for a boxing match, playing his beloved billiards for as long as 10 to 11 hours and then sleeping until four or five in the afternoon.
My joke is that Pacquiao is truly ?a sleeper candidate? as he tries to dislodge the drab billionaire Roy Chiongbian and his dynastic family from their feudal lord type grip on the mainly rural province which borders the ocean not far from this city in South Cotobato.
But, in a performance which might send shudders through the Floyd Mayweather, Pacman came out blazing in his final electoral foray Saturday night, making pivotal stops at Banate Gym/Public Market, Barangay Poblacion and Malungon.
Pacquiao drew thousands of adoring fans/voters at each stop and his speeches, delivered in the Visayan language, were peppered with promises and slices of well received humor.
