“It’s so obvious that they are just making up all these incidents because they cannot accept that the people of Sarangani are already tired of them,” said Pacquiao in an exclusive interview. “They know they are trailing behind in the survey; they just cannot accept it.”
SARANGANI, Philippines – While his political rivals and their adherents continue their stealth assaults unabated, world reknown boxing superstar Manny Pacquiao keeps his composure and debunks involvement of the ambush attempt and the bombing, as alleged, meant to stage on his rival partymates in Sarangani province.
Pacquiao said the ambush attempt on Glan Mayor Enrique Yap, Jr. last Sunday and the bombing attempt on the convoy of Sarangani Governor Rene Miguel Dominguez last Monday are incidents being orchestrated to smear his political campaign in the province where he is running for congressman against Roy Chongbian, the brother of the incumbent Congressman Erwin Chongbian who is serving his last term.
Yap and Dominguez are partymates of his political rival, Chongbian.
“It’s so obvious that they are just making up all these incidents because they cannot accept that the people of Sarangani are already tired of them,” said Pacquiao in an exclusive interview. “They know they are trailing behind in the survey; they just cannot accept it.”
Recent survey by the Investigative Agency of Journalists indicates Pacquiao garners 65% approval rating out of 2,500 respondents as against his opponent, Roy Chongbian, which is 35%, both of which bears with the margin of error +/- 4. Furthermore, defections from the camp of his political rivals have been increasing as the campaigns get closer to May 10 Philippine Elections.
Meanwhile, Pacquiao’s lawyer, Orlando Salantandre, Jr., dismissed the report of the arresting team, saying they have no evidence to link the ownership of the vehicle to Jinkie Pacquiao, the wife of the Pound-for-Pound King.
According to official report, Pacquiao did not admit that the apprehended suspects were his men. But, Salantandre stands for them as legal counsel while they are being detained.
Sarangani’s police director Senior Supt. Restito Gatera said both the ambush attempt and the bombing are still being investigated.
