Floyd has a May Day riot

FLOYD MAYWEATHER delivered the 41st victory of his career with a unanimous points decision over Shane Mosley.

Mosley had vowed to give unbeaten Mayweather the stiffest test of his career at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

The 38-year-old came close to flooring his fellow American in the second but eventually lost 11 of the 12 rounds.

And Mayweather, who was given the nod 119-109, 119-109 and 118-110 by the judges, was delighted with his performance.

He said: “I gave the fans what they wanted to see.

“I went toe-to-toe. That’s not my style but I wanted to give them that kind of fight and I knew I could do it.

“They wanted to see me moving and coming forward, so that’s what I did.

“We should have pressed the attack a lot earlier and we could have got the knockout.

“But Mosley is a tough customer and he is one hell of a fighter.”

A big right and a quick combination in round two rocked Mayweather, who outclassed Juan Manuel Marquez last September.

But the 33-year-old admitted the scare actually helped him focus on the task at hand.

He said: “That’s all with the territory of boxing ? only the strongest survive.

“This is a contact sport, some time you are going to get hit with big shots, you must suck it up and keep fighting hard like a warrior.”

Mayweather has still not given up hope of a showdown with pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao.

But he could not resist taking a dig at the Filipino, who pulled out of contract negotiations earlier this year over a row about blood testing.

Money said: “If Pacquiao wants to fight, it’s not hard to find me.

“If he will take the blood and urine tests, we can make the fight happen for all the fans.”
