Why is it that a few writers feel compelled to comb through Manny Pacquiao’s brilliant career only to downplay it. Recently a writer decided to break out Manny Pacquiao’s resume only to criticize it.
Read up on Mr Eoin Redahan’s article here – www.ringsidereport.com/?p=2203 The article lays out all of which people idolize about Pacquiao then follows it up with why what he’s done is not so spectacular. The reason for such an article is what? Firstly, what this writer has written is only his opinion. Everyone has an opinion, and he is certainly free to voice his. With that said, what is the motive behind it? When I read this writer’s biography it said that he “never tires of watching Floyd Mayweather Jr fight.” Hmmmm, that is interesting. An article picking apart Floyd’s faults would probably be a little bit longer, no?
The author, Mr Eoin fails to realize a few things. Firstly, Manny Pacquiao is from the Philippines. A country filled with beautiful hard working humble folks who haven’t had a lot over the decades to celebrate. It’s a poor country in monetary value, but very wealthy in spirit. Filipinos are proud of their Manny Pacquiao, so let them celebrate and enjoy what the man has done.
What exactly is it about Manny Pacquiao that’s not to like? He’s a warrior inside of the ring, and a humble spiritual man outside of the ring. When someone wins 7 world titles in 7 weight divisions, and has defeated first ballot hall of fame fighters on the way to the top, there is no denying that greatness. Mr Eoin can spin things all day long, but at the end of the day Pacquiao’s accomplishments are amazing.
I have attended several fights all throughout my state of Mississippi. I have spoken to the Athletic Commissioner (John Lewis), the Assistant Commissioner (Patrick Turner), the Chief of Officials (Stan Nichols) and to the every day boxing fans. All of these people respect and admire what Pacquiao has done not only for boxing, but for his nation. Even those who are not Pacquiao fans can see how great that he is.
Pacquiao’s resume speaks for itself. People can try to pick away at greatness, but for what reason? I guess that I shouldn’t be that surprised when I read these articles that try to discredit what Pacquiao has done. When you are the king of the hill, a few people want to try and knock you off of it.
