I glanced at fellow examiner.com Michael Marley’s fine interview with Bernard Hopkins today because Marley is a great writer, not because of the subject Hopkins. I even talked to the writer about it and all things boxing.
Honestly I wasn’t all that interested in Hopkins. I haven’t been for years.
Tonight I read the article again and I see the same Bernard Hopkins who truly is his own worst enemy and so far out of the limelight and boring I don’t care if I ever read another article about the guy.
He’s loyal as long as you’re publicly behind him. Otherwise he’s quite insecure. He’s actually incredibly insecure.
Hopkins, has a percentage point or two in Golden Boy Promotions. He shows up at press conferences when Oscar De La Hoya can’t make it. That’s his job.
But he has no right to be discussing Shane Mosley’s business status with the company in front of the public.
Actually, he couldn’t explain it if he had to. He just talks at it, hoping to stir something up.
Hopkins attended Graterford Prison, not the Wharton School of Business in Philadelphia.
He had a skill, like a 20-something sex object now in her 40s. He’s faded and less desirable. Has been through the re-inventing herself years and now is what she is.
For whatever reason. Hopkins is mad at the world, but the world really doesn’t care anymore.
Hopkins is the ultimate reality that youth is wasted on the young. But it’s the truth until some new truth is revealed.
Playing the race card is getting old also Bernard. Nobody cares anymore. Go be angry somewhere else.
I don’t feel I owe this guy some great debt and he shouldn’t expect it.
