Ring Magazine and People’s Featherweight champion Manny “Pac-Man” Pacquiao outclassed Fahsang 3K Battery knocking him down in the 2nd , 3rd and early in the 4th rounds before unleashing a right hook and left uppercut to the chin combination which finally felled Fahsang flat on his back. Referee Ferdie Estrella did not bother to count waiving the fight over at 1;26 of the round as Fashang lay helpless on the canvas.
The Thai fighter was clearly no match for the Pac-Man who was clearly the faster and the heavier hitter of the two. Pacquiao peppered Fahsang with rights and right – left combinations almost at will with the Thai fighter throwing occasional counters. Fahsang looked more concerned on maintaining his balance to remain standing as Pacquiao punished him with shots to the body and face. Fahsang fell to the canvas twice in the 1st round to the shouts and applause of the crowd. However, the referee ruled both trips to the deck as slips to their dismay.
In the special 10-round attraction, WBO rated Z Gorres likewise proved to be a cut above the durable Thai fighter Chaiyong Di-Star. Gorres knocked down Chaiyong in the 1st, 2nd and 5th rounds. He landed his power shots on the Thai, but the latter continued his courageous, albeit, unsuccessful attack. Gorres simply was too skillful for the visiting fighter evading almost all of the Thai’s punches to the delight of the crowd. Gorres won by a unanimous decision with scores of 100-88, 100-87 & 100-88.
In the main supporting main event, Philippine Lightweight champion Fernanco Montilla showed how much it pays to prepare for an important fight with Manny Pacquiao as a sparring partner. Montilla needed only 47 seconds in the 1st round to knock out challenger Rey Almonicar and retain his title.
In the other supporting bout, Bobby Pacquiao substitute Arnel Porras appeared on the way to registering an upset over number 1 RP Jr.-Lightweight contender Dexter Delada knocking the latter down right in the 1st round and punishing him in the 2nd. However, a right counter by the hard hitting Delada sent Porras for the count at 2′ 36″ in the 3rd round to end the fight.
Pacquao’s win removed a stumbling block towards the reported rematch with WBA-IBF Featherweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez in February of next year.
Fighting before his countrymen for the first time after his world shaking win over Marco Antonio Barrera in November last year, Manny Pacquiao electrified the venue with his presence alone as he marched towards the ring. With his power shots repeatedly shaking Fahsang 3K Battery throughout the brief fight, the dramatic ending surely lived up to its hype as Fahsang’s fall caused Taguig to “yanig”.
