To say Mayweather is a great fighter is an understatement. Floyd Mayweather Jr. is a boxing genius. It makes absolutely no difference if you like him or not. It’s the truth. Who else can avoid punches as effectively as Mayweather? He makes them miss, then he makes them pay.
His punching accuracy is nothing less than phenomenal. He doesn’t take chances and you’ll never see him willingly engage in a toe-to-toe slugfest. For the most part, his brilliance lies in his defensive mastery. He doesn’t mind aggressive fighters and he doesn’t mind backing up and waiting patiently for the right moment to strike.
If he’s facing a boxer who is less aggressive, he lures them in?daring them to take a shot by dropping his left hand and leaning his head in their direction. Attempts to capitalize on the perceived opportunity are almost always futile. That dangling left hand can pop his opponent with a jab in the twinkling of an eye.
If you blink, you?ll have to wait for the replay.
It’s not unusual for him to lay on the ropes and allow his opponent to land combinations for extended periods. Although this usually generates some excitement for those who are rooting for his foe, Mayweather’s left shoulder and right glove absorb most of the punches.
While Shane Mosley will probably be Mayweather’s greatest challenge since he’s been a welterweight, many experts are dismissing Mosley’s chances of winning.

While I can’t agree that Mosley has no chance at all, I do agree that a Mosley win is unlikely.
If Mayweather does reign victorious over the number 3 ranked Pound for Pound fighter in the sport, is there anyone who can beat him?

Pacquiao’s style is completely inimitable. I once heard someone say that no boxing trainer will ever say “Fight like Manny Pacquiao.” Emmanuel Steward once commented that Manny?s style is a gift that can?t be taught.
One thing is certain; Mayweather has never stepped into the ring with anybody near the caliber of fighter as Manny Pacquiao. Will he ever?
Pacquiao is so unorthodox that boxers who have looked great against other opponents tend to look sloppy against him. He instinctively finds the holes in his opponents? defenses. His ability to capitalize on the other guy?s mistakes is unparalleled. Most fighters look about 2/3s as good as they usually look when they face off with Pacquiao. Could he have this effect on Mayweather?
Pacquiao can land punches from virtually any and every angle imaginable. Mayweather has never had to contend with anyone with that ability.
Pacquiao throws relentless, blindingly quick combinations that seem to go on for days. He is an absolute buzz-saw?a Tasmanian devil that never tires. Mayweather wouldn’t have the luxury to wait for Pacquiao to get tired.
In the event of another Mayweather victory on May 1, the world will find quickly find out if Mayweather really wants to fight Pacquiao. Does the self-proclaimed greatest Pound for Pound boxer really want to face the official Pound for Pound king?
There will be no long, drawn out negotiations. Pacquiao has already said that he doesn’t need Mayweather and it’s obvious that he’ll be perfectly content to fight someone else.
If Mayweather wants to fight, he’ll agree to drop the nonsense. If he’s scared, he’ll resume the random blood testing facade and Pacquiao will move on.
It’s as simple as that.
