Comedian Adam Corolla apologizes. Now it’s time to move on!!

After comedian Adam Corolla made disparaging remarks against Pacquiao and Filipinos, his comments rapidly gained negative attention and reaction from the Filipino community. Below is a response from one of the readers that came across Mr. Corolla?s comments.

?It is absolutely appalling the insensitive and derogatory remarks of Adam Carolla. Unfortunately, there are those in society who have to make such comments in order to gain some type of attention. People of such negative disposition are truly sad because, a person such as Adam Carolla, is taking a person of pride for a nation and trying to demean him by attacking issues that are prevalent in many poor nations. That being said, Mr. Carolla’s comments reflect more of the sad nature of Carolla himself then on Manny Pacquiao. Anyone who would take such comments seriously, are as sad as Adam Carolla himself. Manny Pacquiao is the very epitome of pride and shouldn’t let someone of such character affect him in any way. Keep your head up Manny Pacquiao, you have not only a nation behind you, but millions more who believe in you.?

But now, Mr. Corolla has made a public apology via Twitter and admitted that he did cross the line. According to Corolla his comments were not pre-meditated, which is understandable since many comedians do often say things without thinking about it. It is a characteristic of most comedians, a trait that?s a significant part of their success and once in awhile get them into trouble.

The Filipino community made their point and now it?s time to move on forward. There are more important issues within the community that deserves more attention such as human rights, healthcare, identity crisis and education.

It should also set as a reminder for those Filipinos that bombard the internet with racist and ignorant comments towards other groups to look in the mirror first before making such statements again. In fact, we Filipinos make not only derogatory statements about other groups but to ourselves as well. How many Filipinos often make negative remarks towards other Filipinos of a darker color?

Now let?s just put this incident in the past and use it in a positive way by using it as one of the motivations to better ourselves and the community.
