No doubt that the Philippine boxing is on the upswing and come April 10 another up and coming prospect is once again set to display his skills at Hard Rock in Las Vegas. His name is Mark Jason Melligen, a fighter who is still a work in progress, but blessed with great physical gifts and work ethic; two intangibles that can certainly take him a long way.
In his last fight during Pinoy Power 3, he put on a great show as he knocked out his opponent Raymond Gatica in the last round. Now he is set to face a fellow prospect in Norberto Gonzalez, a hard puncher whose lone loss was against Antwone Smith via a decision. This will certainly be a great fight as both young fighters are set to prove that they are ready to face the top contenders in the talent-laden welterweight division.
Read what Mark had to say about his up and coming fight.
(How is your training and preparation for your fight against Norberto Gonzalez?)
(Our training is going well so I’m in condition for my fight against Gonzalez.)
OS: Last fight mo na knock out mo si Gatica. Paano nakatulong yung pagkatalo mo kay Rosales. Ano ang mga natutunan mo. Sabi nga nila it can be a blessing in disguise.
(You knocked out Gatica in your last fight. How did your loss to Rosales help you and what did you learn from it? Sometimes a loss can be a blessing in disguise.)
(I learned a lot. We can’t always win all the fights. That’s why I have to be ready in my following fights so that I’m prepared no matter what happens. I was affected by the Z Gorres and Melendez fight.
(Yes definitely that you guys are close. But how much did his recovery inspire you in your last fight with Gatica?)
(He inspired me greatly and I felt like he gave me a new life that is why the fight was dedicated to him. I was very happy that he was there for during my fight.)
(He inspired a lot of people. Many Filipinos are happy that he is slowly recovering. How many more fights after this one will you need to be ready to fight the top contenders in the division?)
(I can fight on the big fights, I am only waiting on Top Rank to make a decision.)
OS: Sa nakikita ko, lagi kang nasa kundisyon sana mabigyan ka ng chance dahil alam ko na you will be prepared. Do you have a message for your Z and your fans?
(From what I see, you are always in condition and I hope that you are given a chance because I know that you will be prepared. Do you have a message for Z and your fans?)
(For Z, I hope he recovers and able to walk normally. For the fans, I hope that you guys support me on my fight on April 10 and that you don’t get tired of supporting me. Thank you.)
OS: Thank you and good luck Mark.
MJM: Thank you and take care. 0 Response to ‘Exclusive Interview with Mark Jason Melligen: “He (Z Gorres) inspired me greatly….”‘
