DALLAS, TEXAS – One of the two daily Las Vegas, NV newspapers, The Las Vegas Sun, wrote Sunday, under the heading “Tourism” that Dallas and Cowboys Stadium are a threat to Las Vegas boxing.
Dallas’ only daily, The Dallas Morning News was more than happy too run with that story yesterday on its own website.

This looks like a fight that fans of both Las Vegas and Dallas – Fort Worth will enjoy for years to come.
With that battle underway, the questions then turns to whom and when does Manny Pacquiao fight next?
It looks as if Manny will be tied up with politics for a while and has earned a rest anyway, so his next fight won’t be until November.
Indications are new promoter on the block and household name Jerry Jones wants to maintain his boxing momentum again before football season gets rolling in the fall and a June fight at Cowboys Stadium with Mexican favorite Julio Cesar Chavez, Jr. vs. Irish John Duddy; with Antonio Margarito and Jorge Arce in other separate fights is the way for Jones to go.
The excitement caused by the entrance of the elder Julio Cesar Chavez, one of Mexico’s and the world’s greatest fighters on the elevated floor of Cowboys Stadium March 13 tells me they wouldn’t even mind seeing him make a comeback and leave Junior at home.
Which raises the question “Would Jerry, Cowboys Stadium and his staff be able to properly put on a big-time fight involving Pacquiao in November during a hectic football season in which the Cowboys will be expected to contend for their division championship again and more at the level of the high bar he set personally back on March 13?”
The next few months will be interesting as these and other questions get answered.
Now, who would Pacquiao fight?
The first four names anyone could think of would have to include: Floyd Mayweather, Jr.; Juan Manual Marquez; Edwin Valero; and Antonio Margarito.
A fight with Pacquiao is Mayweather Jr.’s to have if he drops his silly blood -testing demands.
Either Margarito or Valero would need to become street legal again as both are under respective suspensions and can’t fight in the America.
Marquez is almost 37 and couldn’t compete with Mayweather last September at 140 lbs., let alone at the welterweight 147 lbs. limit Pacquiao currently resides.

Then as a long shot you have to reconsider an eighth world championship and weight division against the winner of 154 lbs. champion and light-hitting Yuri Foreman, 28-0 (8 KO’s) vs. old foe and friend Miguel Cotto, 34-2 (27 KO’s), who received one of the biggest and spontaneous applause’s at Cowboys Stadium when seen on the big screens.
