MANNY Pacquiao was clowning around, did some dancing atop the ring and even doing an imaginary dribble of a basketball and making a jump shot at the end of his training session Monday afternoon at the Davao City boxing gym.
“Sorry, I forgot I’m not a basketball player. I’m a boxer,” a smiling Pacquiao said in the vernacular, drawing laughter from the huge crowd in attendance.
After over a week of honing up his skills under the watchful eyes of American trainer Freddie Roach, Pacquiao appears relaxed leading to his Dec. 11 fight with Thai Fahsan 3K Battery in Taguig.
The Filipino champ was even flashing the thumbs up sign to almost everybody in sight, including North Cotabato Gov. Manny Pi?ol, who dropped by at the gym to watch Pacquiao’s sparring session.
Impressed by the boxer’s superb conditioning, the Pacquiao camp is boasting Fahsan does not stand a chance against the Filipino pug.
And the question now often asked is: “What round will Pacquiao knockout Fahsan?”
“If we can make in the first round, we will go for it,” a member of Team Pacquiao said.
This was after Pacquiao went through another rigorous practice supervised by Roach.
Roach himself declared Pacquiao would be 100 percent ready the moment he steps in the ring against Fahsan, who is called `The Destroyer’ because of his penchant of victimizing Filipino boxers.
He should be careful against Pacquiao, though.
Pacquiao, according to Roach, has tremendous speed and power only a few boxers possessed.
Pacquiao showed that again Monday when he sparred with Arnel Porras and Philippine lightweight champ Fernando Montilla in another slam-bang affair atop the ring that drew cheers from the crowd.
When Roach finally called it a day, Pacquiao busied himself signing autographs, having photo sessions with fans and answering questions from the media.
