FAHSAN 3K BATTERY is neither a tuktuk driver nor an ice cream vendor from Thailand though he?s been called such by critics . But this last-minute choice as a foe for Manny Pacquiao is confident he will make a name for himself on the night of Dec. 11 at The Fort in Taguig.
Reporting from Bangkok, 3K Battery?s chief handler said the ambitious Thai fighter looked spectacular during a sparring session with stablemate Fabbrakob Rakkiatgym, a one-time knockout victim of Pacquiao.
“Fabbrakob has improved a lot since the Pacquiao fight and Fahsan looked good when the two sparred today,” said Chaichotchuang, who also serves as his boxer?s interpreter.
“He told me and I believe him when he said he is coming back to Manila not to get knocked out,” said Chaichotchuang.
Pacquiao and 3K Battery square off before an expected mammoth crowd in an open-arena at The Fort in Taguig dubbed “Yanig Sa Taguig.”
3K Battery was in the country two weeks ago to promote his scheduled 12-rounder and is scheduled to be back on Dec. 5 armed with almost 100 rounds of sparring, according to Chaichotchuang.
“Even before he went to Manila, he?s been training hard because he knows that Pacquiao is a very tough fighter,” added Chaichitchuang.
Pacquiao is using next month?s bout as tune-up for his Feb. 26 rematch with Juan Manuel Marquez of Mexico in Las Vegas.
Meanwhile, Pacquiao has been training diligently at the Almendras Gym in Davao under the strict supervision of cornermen Lito Mondejar and Buboy Fernandez, fresh from another stint at the Wild Card Boxing Club of Freddie Roach in Hollywood, California.
Mondejar has been tasked to keep an eye on the GenSan southpaw by no less than Team Pacquiao main man Rod Nazario.
“I will take a close watch on Manny?s preparation everyday even when he returns to Manila to begin the final phase of his training,” said Mondejar, who used to work the corners of former world champions Erbito Salavarria, the late Pedro Adigue and Tacy Macalos.
