DUBAI – Filipino boxing sensation Manny Pacquiao is set to visit Dubai next month to watch his brother Bobby fight, a promoter organising the event said in remarks published on Sunday.
“Manny will be here during the fight. He will be here for two days. He’s the special guest for the event,” Zack Taumafai, owner of Dubai-based KO Promotions, told UAE daily Gulf News.
The event, “Philippines vs Rest of the World”, will take place on April 9 at the Dubai Tennis Stadium and feature some of the Philippines top boxers, including former world title contender Rey Bautista and highly-rated Milan Melindo, the newspaper said.
Pacquiao on Saturday defeated Joshua Clottey by unanimous 12-round decision to retain his WBO welterweight title.
Pacquiao, 51-3 with two drawn and 38 knockouts, ran his win streak to 12-straight fights with a dominating performance in front of a crowd of 51,000 at the $1.2 billion Cowboys Stadium in Dallas.
