Oh boy, this is what us boxing fans have been waiting for. It’s the eve of the big fight, it’s Friday the day before Manny Pacquiao mixes it up with big Joshua Clottey of Ghana. This fight has all the makings of a great fight. Pacquiao, the games pound for pound king. He’s a legend killer, he is a class act, he is an Icon. Joshua Clottey, a humble man from Ghana Africa. A man who has worked hard and has done everything right and has earned his shot. Forty thousand plus fans will pack the Big D tomorrow night, and will watch two men due battle.
Manny Pacquiao, a seven division world champion knows that this could prove to be a difficult fight for him. As confident as ever, Pacquiao still remains humble and approaches the fight with a level head. Clottey knows all too well how important this fight is for him. A victory over the great Manny Pacquiao would sky rocket his stock into the ozone layer.
Both men have trained hard for this battle, they want the victory badly. Pacquiao will be facing a big natural welterweight who can crack, and who has a good chin. Clottey goes up against a lighting fast terror who has destroyed legends. Hatton, De La Hoya, Cotto, Morales, Barrera, Marquez, all fell victim to Manny Pacquiao. Will Clottey be the next victim added to Pacquiao’s resume? Time will certainly tell.
Saturday night, March 13th in Dallas Texas, two warriors will get into the ring and they will fight to the finish. Media outlets from around the world have shown up in Dallas. This is a big fight, it’s big for boxing, it’s huge. This fight is nothing but good for boxing. Two class acts who represent the sport with dignity and honor. Two men who have worked hard at their craft, and have earned this opportunity. Sit back and enjoy this one, because we don’t know how many more times we will get to see Manny Pacquiao in the ring.
Mississippi boxing fans will all be glued to their television sets tomorrow night. The sports bars will be showing the Pacman vs Clottey, and the fans will all be ready to see a war.
Mississippi Chief of Officials, and the president of USA Boxing’s Southern Association, Stan Nichols predicts a victory for Pacquiao, but says, “It’s going to be a tough fight for Pacquiao.” Nichols points out Clottey’s natural size, and his power, “An interesting question is, can Manny get through 12 rounds and not get cracked by Clottey? How well will Manny be able to handle Clottey’s power, IF he does get touched?”
