While Bob Arum’s Top Rank is poised to formally announce the much-awaited rematch between reigning world featherweight king Manny Pacquiao and WBA/IBF champ Juan Manuel Marquez, Thailand’s Fahsan 3K Battery has vowed he will ruin all plans when he trades leathers with the Filipino superstar on December 11 in Taguig.
Marquez’s manager Ignacio “Nacho” Berist?in said he received yesterday evening an official notice from Top Rank, indicating the planned announcement of the February 26 battle in Las Vegas.
Beristain, however, showed not much interest in Top Rank’s overture, saying: “They have yet to negotiate with us.”
Beristain expressed that he agrees that his ward and Pacquiao should settle the issue on who is the best featherweight in the planet at the moment, but “while we have not negotiated on the purse of Juan Manuel, that fight is still up in the air.” Berist?in revealed that he hopes to talk with the people at Top Rank to listen to the conditions set forth for the fight.
Beristain added that aside from the economic considerations, Pacquiao must also hurdle his Thai foe Fahsan 3K Battery on December 11.
In a separate interview, Fahsan said yesterday he was “very confident” of derailing plans for the Pacquiao-Marquez showdown as he vowed to defeat the Ring Magazine featherweight champion in their December 11 showdown titled “Yanig sa Taguig” at the open air arena opposite MC Home Depot at The Fort in Taguig.
Fahsan, speaking through his manager Jimmy Chaichotchuang said he was “in very good condition, perfect condition” after a sparring session with Fahprakorb Rakkiatgym whom Pacquiao knocked out in the first round on October 2002 in Davao City.
The Thai manager said Fahprakorb, who has been unbeaten since the loss to Pacquiao, has improved tremendously and is himself ready to avenge his defeat but said that his stablemate Fahsan 3K Battery will get the job done in the blockbuster fight card sponsored by SMART, Talk N? Text and Solar Sports with the support of Taguig Mayor Freddie Tinga. .
Pacquiao began sparring with Philippine lightweight champion Fernando Montilla at the Almendras Gym in Davao City last Monday and indicated he was not taking Fahsan for granted.
