Here we are, a day before The Event arrives. The predictions and thoughts have all been registered. The herds of crowds can hardly wait to see how Pacquiao/Clottey will unfold. Sure, it is true that 99.9% of the soon to be viewers believe that Pacquiao will leave Texas with the win, but if most of us are right, what awaits Pacquiao next? Maybe we are all jumping the gun here and maybe just maybe Clottey will do just enough to finally win the big one. So if Clottey goes on to shock the world, what then will be next for Clottey? Let’s break it down, shall we?
A Pacquiao win- Does Pacquiao retire right after this fight to pursue that special seat in politics? I sure hope not. Allow me to appologize ahead of time but if I am one of the voters in that election, I would not be voting for Pacquiao. I know that I am being greedy here, but truth be told, I would love to see more of Manny up in that ring. There is still unfinished business that needs to be attended to. After Pacquiao smashed Cotto, many fans of the sport began calling Manny the best ever. Is Pacquiao the best ever? That is a very hard question to even try and answer. It’s hard to argue against opinions. Speaking of opinions, in my opinion, I feel that right now Pacquiao ranks up there with Duran, Chavez, Leonard, Hearns, Hagler, and them. A Floyd Mayweather Jr. served on a silver platter will then place Pacquiao with the imortals, with Ali and Robinson.
So if Pacquiao beats Clottey will Mayweather be next? Will the ”There can only Be One” event finally arrive? That all depends on how Pacquiao defeats Clottey. If Pacquiao knocks out Clottey, forget about it, we will never see Pacquiao/Mayweather. If Pac-Man crushes Clottey, Mayweather will really scream out foul play and will really stand firm on testing. If Pacquiao wins in a tough fight, Maybe we will then see it, of course assuming Mayweather himself can pass the ultimate test that lays before him in Sugar Shane Molsey.
If not Mayweather then who next? Edwin Valero, that’s who. Pacquiao/Valero in Manila! The ultimate gift for all his people. Bring the fight to your people. If not Valero, I would then go on to say that Timothy Bradley should then get the call. A Pacquiao/Bradley fight will say I want my spot back loud and clear.
A Clottey win- If Clottey goes on to shock the world, does Clottey get the Mosley/Mayweather winner? Of course Clottey will deserve to get the winner, but will he get it? Probably not. Clottey will more than likely end up with the Berto/Quintana winner instead. Or maybe Paul Williams makes a 147 pound return to take on Clottey. Knowing Arum though, Arum will try to sell to us all a Clottey/Margarito rematch instead. The only way I see Mayweather or Mosley looking towards Clottey’s way is if The Grand Master goes on to smash Pacquiao. The chances of that happening though are very slim, and slim left town yesterday.
