Even though most informed insiders believe Clottey is going to provide Pacquiao with a stern challenge, it’s hard to find anybody who thinks Clottey is going to win this Saturday. The Pac-man has just been too impressive in his march through boxing’s best fighters, but IBF 118 pound world champion Yonnhy Perez thinks Clottey is going to win the fight.
Perez won the IBF 118 pound title with a terrific win over the highly regarded Joseph Agbeko, another fighter from Ghana, this past Halloween in Las Vegas in a fight that was a candidate for fight of the year. Perez 20-0 (14) is a very well schooled boxer who’s exceptionally big for the bantamweight division and is scheduled to fight undefeated Mexican Abner Mares in May at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on the undercard of the highly anticipated fourth bout between Israel Vazquez and Rafael Marquez.
The Colombian native thinks Joshua Clottey is going to upset Manny Pacquiao this Saturday and in an interview with the Examiner.com he noted, “We all know that Pacquiao is on a roll and we all know Clottey and I don’t know who’s going to win, but if I had to make a prediction I would say Clottey. I think Clottey is a good fighter and he’s fighting at his natural weight. We all know that Pacquiao has won a lot of big fights, but those were against boxers that were on the way out. And Clottey is a good fighter and has also had some big fights. With the weight and his previous big fight experience I think Clottey is going to win.”
