In a not so typical media day, which included Pacquiao’s shortest biggest fan Minny Pacquiao and a group of people who were wearing orange shirts in obvious display of support for Manny Villar, Pacquiao may have proven that he can definitely multitask and may be able to juggle both careers in politics and boxing simultaneously.
During his media day in Wild Card Gym, Pacquiao was able to unofficially start his campaign and at the same time do his usual workout for the media by hitting the mitts with Freddie Roach.
Before starting his workout yesterday, he took a banner with Manny Villar’s image and paraded it around the ring for everyone to see. In fact, he even sang a Villar campaign song before doing sit ups. Manny Villar may be closing the gap at his rival Noynoy Aquino, by his aggressive campaign and big pockets, but he may be able to take the lead now with Pacquiao’s endorsement during his media day. It will certainly allow Villar to reach more demographics as the people that attended Pacquiao’s workout included media from all over the world and different aspects of the entertainment industry.
Some rivals of Villar and Pacquiao may be valid in their concerns that Pacquiao’s popularity and media connections as unfair advantages, but nonetheless the latter has the right like everyone else to show who he supports in the political arena. Pacquiao has gotten where he is today by hard work and thus should be able to enjoy its advantages.
However, it did serve as a reminder to his fans depends and media members who have followed him that he is indeed about to enter the world of politics, which definitely makes his future in the sport uncertain. He can definitely still juggle both careers, but that will on depend on his schedule that will surely become more hectic than it already it is once he gets elected.
