Ring Magazine featherweight champion Manny Pacquiao, who is also recognized as the People?s Champion after he won that unofficial title with a devastating 11th-round TKO over legendary Mexican Marco Antonio Barrera last Nov. 15 in San Antonio, Texas, is currently no. 2 in a worldwide Internet poll to choose the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world today.
Former light heavyweight and one time heavyweight champion Roy Jones Jr., who battles Glen Johnson in a comeback fight on Sunday after his stunning loss to Antonio Tarver, is the no. 1 choice.
In the poll conducted by HBO Sports, Jones received 28 percent of the votes while Pacquiao got 19 percent.
In third spot was middleweight champion Bernard Hopkins, who scored a smashing ninth-round KO win over Oscar de la Hoya last Sunday with 17 percent while De la Hoya himself garnered 11 percent, one percent ahead of lightweight champion Floyd Mayweather.
Featherweight champion Erik Morales, who was stripped of his International Boxing Federation title, was in sixth place with a mere 6 percent.
