Shame on everyone…again. Instead of scrapping their January 30th telecast, HBO should have afforded future hall of famer and current WBA welterweight champion Sugar Shane Mosley a last minute replacement to ensure that he fought on January 30. It would have been easy to find somebody passable for a small fraction of the $1.6M+ Berto was slated to receive and Mosley looking good on HBO months before a potential Mayweather fight only assists in the promotion. Mosley’s reward for beating Antonio Margarito as easily as he did should not be a 16 month layoff to fight Floyd Mayweather Jr. The situation gets more difficult to stomach when you consider that Mosley, who is backed by a powerful promotional company he is a partner in, will now likely have to watch Antonio Margarito’s return following a year suspension before he gets the chance to capitalize off of that victory. Despicable.
