These Boxing Geniuses Continue to Find More Ways to Throw Away Money and Fans
The Pacquiao and Mayweather teams, managers, promoters, and all of their advisors are figuring out ways to throw away millions of dollars with every decision they make. First, they opt against a fight that could generate possibly more than $200 million dollars in a single night. Then, they decide to have the two biggest stars in boxing fight on the same night, March 13th, against two different opponents, on different cards. It does not matter which promoter had the original date with HBO or the venue. One of these fighters and promoters must concede and change the date. If not, both fight teams and promoters will lose millions of dollars. This is not about pride; this is about money and future money. Both fighters will also lose fans! Yes, fans will be pissed and hate boxing even more and blah blah blah, all that nonsense. The real fact of the matter is that nobody is going to order two PPV’s in the same night. I am obsessed with boxing and order all of the big PPVs, but there is not a chance in hell that I will order both of these PPVs. The overwhelming majority of boxing fans will do the same thing and just simply not buy. Both sides will literally lose millions of dollars and hundreds of thousands of fans in one night. If one team decides to change the date by one month, both PPVs will sell and both fighters will retain what’s left of their loyal fan base. If one of the dates is not changed, this move will go down as more brainless than canceling the originally planned fight. Editor’s Note: Team Pacquiao has publicly denied the existence of the alleged e-mails concerning the consequences of a positive test, so in my opinion, the burden of proof is now on the accuser. A Nevada court will sort it out.
