The more boxing fans read about the implosion of the negotiations for the Manny Pacquiao vs Floyd Mayweather, Jr dream bout, the more they should realize that this fight is on course to happen this year.
Forget about the issues of drug testing, federal court suits and all the rest of the baloney, right now the promoters and their charges are sitting with their calculators trying to figure out how they can avoid each other and yet still make anywhere near the numbers that these fights will bring in.
You don’t honestly believe that this will be a one-off do you?
Shame – I bet you think also think that Rocky 7 – “Rocky gums his roommate at Sleepy Pines” – is not being filmed right now either.
And the more they play with those calculators, the more they will realize that whatever else they choose over Manny Pacquiao vs Floyd Mayweather, Jr, it won’t realize a fraction of what those fights will bring in.
Game, set and match.
Gone, suddenly, will be the drug problems, the cowardice and anything else currently standing in the way.
You can take that to the bank.
In the meanwhile before they get the chance to trade body blows they’re insistent on keeping up the cheap shots at each other.
Mayweather is calling Pacquiao a “punk ass” and saying he is scared of a steroids test and Manny’s trainer says Mayweather’s a “coward”.
Shame.
