No need to continue beating a dead horse, the Godzilla clash of them all is now a dead issue. Why this mega fight could not be saved is beyond me. Even after Pacquiao agreed to a test 24 days from fight night, not even that was enough for the Money Man to ink the deal.
I strongly feel that Money May shot himself in the foot on this one. Mayweather sure did miss the boat on this one. Floyd’s ego tells him that he is bigger than boxing, thing is that Floyd is very wrong in even thinking such nonsense.
Very few fight fans will not even care on what Mayweather does next. Chances are that he will take on a junior welter and make him move up in weight as his next opponent. If Floyd does do just that, the only fights that would be nice to see would be Mayweather/Bradley, or Mayweather/Malignaggi.
Mayweather/Bradley, because Bradley is a fighter that has shown to adapt to any style thrown his way. Mayweather/Malignaggi, because both fighters are fast skilled fighters that know how to sell a fight and this could be the best 24/7 ever series. If Floyd does face someone at his weight, he should do so by facing Joshua Clottey, Luis Collazo, Miguel Cotto, or if Floyd really wants to think ballsy and money at the same time, all Floyd needs to do is wait for Margarito to get his license back then face him in May and hope Bob Arum will agree to allow one of his fighters face Mayweather.
I however feel that Floyd being a ”no edge, no fight” kind of guy, Floyd will probably end up fighting Saul Alvarez or Mathew Hatton. If Floyd does do just this and face a Saul or Matty, no one will care.
As for Pacquiao, all eyes will be on Manny. This is a machine that has been going through tough guys left and right. The fans always will stick by who gives them the biggest bang for their buck.
Manny has many options to choose from. Floyd also has options, but Manny is the fighter more willing to take a gamble, so therefore the move that Manny makes will be the move that fans will follow.
Manny can wait for Mosley/Berto to be wrapped up, then fight the winner. Manny can also face Timothy Bradley to see who really is the best at 140. Manny can even wait for Edwin Valero [assuming Valero gets by Demarco on Feb 6], Heck Manny can even face Juan Manuel Marquez again and this time knock him out just to prove a point.
What about going up to 154 to face Yuri? Well, I would favor Pacquiao to beat Yuri, but I also feel that 147 is Pacquiao’s limit. I also feel that 135 is where Juan Manuel Marquez fights best, so that is why I feel that if Marquez is to fight Manny again, Marquez would get knocked out. Even at 140!
The Big Fight may be off the table for now, or who knows, maybe the fight may never get revisited. Thing is that, from this point forward, both Pacquiao and Mayweather will be competing against one another in one shape or form or another. Manny-Mania will go on. So Floyd if you are reading this, this is why I feel that you shot yourself in the foot. This is why your next move is now very critical. A Matty Hatton or Saul Alvarez just will not do. This is why you should have pressed harder to knock out Marquez. First impressions say a thousand words, but in this case your last impression says everything.
