Filipino featherweight champion Manny Pacquiao said Wednesday he received a call from his manager informing him of HBO’s plan to set a rematch for him and Mexican boxer Juan Manuel Marquez in September.
“Ang nilalakad ng business manager ko na sana ay dito sa Manila maganap ‘yung fight namin, at ang HBO ay pupunta po dito (My business manager is working on the possibility to have the rematch in Manila, and HBO would be here [to cover the fight],” Pacquiao told dzMM.
He, however, said he received information that Marquez was hesitant about getting into another fight against him.
Meanwhile, Pacquiao confirmed reports that the Las Vegas boxing commission has stuck to its decision that his fight against Marquez last May 8 was a draw.
Pacquiao’s team has filed a protest before the Las Vegas boxing body citing the admission of one of the judges that he committed a scoring error.
Knocked down three times in the first round, Marquez rallied to salvage a draw and retain his WBA and IBF 126-pound titles in a thrilling fight with Pacquiao.
