Manny Pacquiao, who was guaranteed $500,000 (P27.5 million) for his fight against Juan Manuel Marquez, admitted the other night that in his desire to save money, he bought cheap socks costing less than $1 dollar.
The miscalculation probably cost him a victory, two world titles and guaranteed megabuck fights that would have set him up to a life of luxury for the rest of his natural life.
The socks, which he wore during his fight with Marquez last Sunday, gave out as early as the second round causing blisters on the big toe of his left foot. He said the blisters caused so much pain he was unable to throw his killer punch after the first few rounds of the 12-round fight which ended in a controversial split draw.
