Manny Pacquiao, Antonio Margarito may ride in Cowboys stadium

Ride ‘em, cowboy(s).

That could be the latest English phrase that Manny Pacquiao puts into his always expanding English language vocabulary.

Examiner.com and Boxingconfidential.com has learned that, in the rupture of the Floyd Mayweather-Pacman super bout deal around 11 p.m. PST Wednesday night, that promoter Bob Arum is huddling over coffee and bagels (with a schmear) right now in Las Vegas with Murray Wilson, manager of WBA’s newly crowned junior middleweight champion and rabbinical student Yuri Foreman.

Arum’s intent is to quickly prep contracts for signature by the unbeaten Foreman and the Pinoy Idol so that they stage a fight on March 13 or 20 in which Megamanny will be vying for his record eighth weight division world crown.

Oh, the cowboy part? Well, I’ve also learned that a bucking Bronco from Dallas named Jerry Jones has not given up on put on a dazzling PPV TV boxing show in the new high tech Dallas Cowboys football stadium in Arlington.

“Jerry Jones is not easily discouraged,” an inflamed source told me. “He’s been calling Uncle Bob almost every day. Jerry does not know the meaning of the word quit. It’s not in his vocabulary. He wants to show off his stadium as an all purpose facility.”

If Top Rank head honcho Arum runs into headwinds in landing Pacquiao-Foreman at the MGM Grand, then he is strongly considering putting on a strong doubleheader, the Megamanny fight coupled with the return from suspension of Mexican star Antonio Margarito.

Margarito, or as Margicheato as boxing wags have referred to him, was suspended by the California commission as a result of having illegally loaded handwraps in preparation for a Jan. 24 Los Angeles bout he wound up losing to Sugar Shane Mosley. (The cheater wraps were brought to the commission’s attention before the bout by eagle eyed Mosley trainer Brother Nazim Richardson.)

Now, with his one year ban ending shortly, Margarito has no impediment to getting licensed in Texas.

I asked a Mexican source close to Margarito who he would fight in Tejas.

“Does it matter, he could fight Mickey Mouse and the Mexican crowds will welcome him back,” the man said.

Twinbill In Texas. Destiny In Dallas. Gunslingers At Jerry’s World.

You pick a nickname.

Bigtime boxing may yet ride into the Cowboys’ glittering playpen.

Mr. Jones has apprently dug his spurs in.
