AT 22 years old and with just 14 fights, Ciso Morales is a newbie.
However, the young Pinoy pug is just as motivated as the veterans in the sport in trying to win a world title, against the dangerous World Boxing Organization (WBO) bantamweight titlist Fernando Montiel.
“Ciso is very motivated to train for this fight because this is what he was aiming for. This is the fight that he wants,” said Sammy Gello-ani, Morales’ promoter.
Montiel, who once beat Z Gorres in Cebu, will be defending his world title against Morales on Feb. 13 at the Las Vegas Hilton in the third installment of Top Rank’s “Pinoy Power” boxing series.
But it won’t be easy for the unbeaten Morales because the 30-year-old Montiel is a veteran of 17 world title fights, winning 14 of them.
“This would be the hardest fight in Ciso’s career,” said the veteran international boxing promoter.
The 22-year-old Morales is training in San Francisco under Nonito Donaire Sr. with former world champion Marvin Sonsona.
Sonsona will fight for the WBO super bantamweight crown against Wilfredo Vasquez Jr. in Puerto Rico on Feb. 27.
