CHICAGO ? Two judges pulled the plug on a well deserved Manny Pacquiao victory yesterday, preventing Pacman from annexing the WBA and IBF featherweight belts. But before we puncture their heads with the imaginary bullet holes of our collective rage, let?s stop for a moment and examine the facts.
One of the scoring discrepancies was made by judge Burt Clements, who scored the first round only 10-7 in favor of Pacquiao. The two other judges had it 10-6, which is common practice in rounds involving three knockdowns.
If Clements had only been a little generous, Pacman would have won by split decision.
