If the Manny Pacquiao-Floyd Mayweather fight really is called off, WBO light welterweight champion Timothy Bradley wants to remind both fighters that he’s ready and willing.
“Everyone knows it’s the big names I want. It’s not a secret,” said Bradley, the Cathedral City resident. “All they have to do is dial my number. I’m not asking for a whole lot.”
Bradley had been in contact with Pacquiao’s camp. Trainer Freddie Roach approached Bradley about being a sparring partner for Pacquiao in preparation for the fight.
Obviously, Bradley declined.
“I’m a world champion. I’m no one’s sparring partner,” Bradley said. “Why would I spar when I might fight him someday?
“But if I need a lefty, I’ll call Manny to be my sparring partner.”
Roach is also the trainer of WBA champion Amir Khan. After Bradley’s victorious title defense Dec. 12, Team Bradley was talking about Khan likely being the next opponent.
