I had the pleasure and opportunity of interviewing World Boxing Council president Jose Sulaiman early Thursday evening. The current turmoil involving blood testing for Mayweather, Jr. vs. Pacquiao was the main course, however we also discussed other WBC business.
1. MS: Mr. Sulaiman, first, Happy Holidays to you, your family and the WBC family. Tell our readers your overall opinion as to where things stand now regarding the blood testing issue regarding Mayweather, Jr. vs. Pacquiao fight and if the WBC has a remedy.
1 == The anti doping tests are in the hands of the boxing commissions of the world as well as of the WBC ; these institutions are the only ones responsible to order, have examined and get the doping tests lab reports. The boxing commissions themselves are the ones to decide if any other should be requested ,,,, and it is not our custom to require any lab testes to boxers fighting for titles before those after the fights as required in our rules.
2. MS: This is a World Boxing Organization – sanctioned fight. The WBC is not involved. Is anybody paying attention to the WBO’s role?
2== It has not been my style to express any opinions about other boxing organizations, as I don’t really know much about their conditions, and much less about the WBO, so I prefer to abstain from expressing any opinion-
3. MS: Does bringing in an outside blood-testing agency undermine the Nevada State Athletic Commission that has jurisdiction?
3 == I believe that I am not informed of the matter reason for this interview, as I do not understand the meaning of outside agencies ,,,,,,, but if the meaning is to bring any other authority different than the State Commission or the corresponding sanctioning body, the WBC would never accept it as we are the organization certifying our world titles and whoever wants to fight for a WBC title, he has to stand by our rules and regulations.
4. MS: Can the two promoters (Top Rank and Golden Boy) pull this off on March 13 if the blood testing matter is resolved soon?
4== I have never believed that a fight of this magnitude,,,,,, of so much interest in the boxing people of the world, could be promoted in such as short a time as March 13th, and I need to know what are the differences between the promoters, but it has been my experience that promoters usually agree when there is a good promotion going on………. Some go the 12 rounds, but at the end they have always agreed,
5. MS: What can world boxing fans expect to see from the WBC in 2010?
5 == some of the issues for 2010 of the WBC ARE: A – we will support Mexico in boxing for a once a month fight on the 2010 celebration of the bicentennial anniversary of the independence and the centennial anniversary of the revolution.
B== we will very strongly pursue a world WBC boxing cup for preliminary 4-6 round fighters with the objective of getting new heroes for this period of transition, when the heroes of the recent decade have gone or are in the process of going.
C == The WBC will also try in all supportive nations to have a WBC amateur world cup, for the same motive of having new prospects, as the amateur level of boxing internationally have gone dramatically down in class and numbers.
D == the WBC will also implement a new medical research on IMPACT to the head, by having brain exams before an after fights, on a number of selected fighters- The WBC has been related with UCLA in Los Angeles for 26 years, when we started a medical research for brain damage; when UCLA reached advanced findings, the MINISTRY OF HEALT of the USA came in with grants for the faster continuation of this very important research that we understand that it is in a well advanced staged at UCLA.
E == the WBC is implementing a system to have an important pension plan for retired boxers, including a strong effort to have national and state governments come to the help of those boxers, including the offering of jobs to them , for them to stop dreaming of their glorious past years , and continue living their lives with dignity.
F == The WBC is also in the process of trying to get a world support of rehabilitation for boxers who have dropped in the cancer of society today, as drugs are- The WBC has already a plan that has seen many boxers going to rehabilitation places with many positive results, even when there have also been some failures.
There are some other programs, but I would say those listed above are a substantial number, that will need strenuous efforts of those affiliated from all over the world to be able to pull them through . and they will require the participation in the world of as many of our affiliates in a determined and positive work and efforts.
6. MS: Please tell the fans about the free, live, WBC – sponsored Internet fights broadcast all over the world.

Suljos.tv has taken more than 5 years of technological work to start operations which we are already doing, and it is meant to be a complement of TV for promotional opportunities for boxers and promoters mainly, who have no dates in TV, but who are so good that the world must see them. It is unbelievable that we had 89,914 users watching on suljos.tv and High definition the fight between former champion Edgar Sosa , and Rodel Mayol ,,,,, when we have had very little advertising, only with our E mail numbers and word by mouth. It is now a fact that suljos.tv will go into full esteem in January of 2010 , with our Internet boxing shows to be on the Internet page wbcboxing.tv and all other sports and spectacles to continue being on suljos.tv and yes, we have been trying and will continue doing so, to put together a master email list for fans of boxing, other sports and entertainment.
