CHICAGO ? My attempt to nail a pre-fight interview with Manny Pacquiao yesterday turned out to be an uneventful TKO. The world?s best featherweight was out of his MGM Grand hotel room when I called, and I was advised that the champ was done talking to the media, at least until after tomorrow?s tussle with Juan Marquez.
Although I couldn?t find any of lady luck?s charm, today?s Pacquiao-Marquez column will have its share of silver dust, thanks to Rod Nazario. Pacman?s manager was kind enough to fill in the blanks in the absence of his fighter.
?Manny is in tip-top shape. If he was 100 percent against (Marco Antonio) Barrerra, he?s 105 percent against Marquez,? said a confident Nazario. Under the watchful eyes of Freddie Roach Jr., Pacquiao has just completed a grueling seven-week training regimen.
