They’re not quite in Susan Boyle territory, but Manny Pacquiao, Ricky Hatton, Usain Bolt and Tiger Woods were the biggest YouTube stars in the sports world in 2009.
YouTube has announced its biggest hits of 2009, and three sports-related terms made the list of the most-searched terms this year: — “Pacquiao vs. Hatton” was the most-searched term in May, as freeloaders and cheapskates tried to watch the fight without buying the pay-per-view boxing enthusiasts got excited about one of the biggest fights of the year. — “Usain Bolt” was the most-searched term in August, as the Jamaican track star cemented his position as the world’s fastest man in the Beijing Games. — “Tiger Woods” was the most-searched term in December, as the whole world became obsessed with the golf star’s personal life.
And the golf star’s personal life gave us what must be considered the sports viral video hit of the year: “Tiger Woods Voicemail Slow Jam Remix” has already been viewed more than 1 million times.
