While Marquez has the ability to punish and the power to knockout most any opponent, Pacquiao is not your average contender. Intelligence wins fights and adaptability is a paramount skill that is hard to train and difficult to learn. Adapting to the ebbs and flows of an opponents strategy I fully believe is a God given talent. The talents to get on your toes stick and move circle the ring round after round is not rare.
Neither is the ability to stand in front of your competition and slug it out. What is rare is the culmination of all these attributes in one fighter. A fighter who can move at will, fire 70-80 punches a round with an unheard of amount being power punches, stick and move or go toe to toe, and adapt at the drop of a dime, can not be denied a title. While I have great respect for Marquez something in my gut tells me Manny Pacquiao is a once in a generation fighter that is destined to have a spot in the annuals of this sport.
