LAS VEGAS ? If not for the dark jogging suit that covered his body from head to foot and the men who walked beside him, you?d not mistake Juan Manuel Marquez for the Mexican warrior who has a date with destiny Saturday night at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.
Marquez, who stakes the World Boxing Association and International Boxing Federation featherweight crowns against Manny Pacquiao, oozed with high hopes when the Bulletin had a chance encounter with him at the Studio Walk on Wednesday afternoon.
Marquez, 30, said he?s sparred more than 80 rounds against six different sparring partners for this weekend?s crucial collision.
Speaking through personal physician Miguel Duran, Marquez said he knows what Pacquiao brings to the ring but is extremely confident that when the mushroom cloud dissipates, the two title belts would remain wrapped around his waist.
