1. Manny Pacquiao- The Pac-Man gets the top spot for the simple fact that Manny is willing to take fights that are viewed as even money and all the man does is come out and destroys the opposition. Pounded Oscar, Toyed with Hatton, and Destroyed Cotto, nuff said.
2. Floyd Mayweather Jr.- Would Pacquiao be the megastar he is today had Money May not retired? Would the Pac-Man be on top of the boxing world today? Woulda, Coulda, shoulda, Money May did walk away from the sport so Pacquiao stepped up and terminated the game so because of that Money May now finds himself sitting comfy right about here.
3. Bernard Hopkins- B-Hop is the ageless wonder. A man with a style you can’t crack. Has to make an Ornelas pit stop but revenge is at the end of the road against Roy Jones Jr.
4. Shane Mosley- Sugar Shane needs to get busy and busy he will be when he faces the very busy young lion, Andre Berto on Jan. 30th.
5. Chad Dawson- Bad Chad looked sharp and boxed clever against the tough as nails Johnson. Will a clash against the storm Cloud be next? Tavoris Cloud sure hopes so.
6. Paul Williams- If the Punisher can defeat the slick Martinez next month, you can expect to see the Punisher make a splash to the top 3 or 4 on this list.
7. Arthur Abraham- After the demolition of Taylor, King Arthur now is looking to pound the fast as lightning Dirrell in dramatic fashion.
8. Timothy Bradley- Faces the young, dangerous and clever, Lamont Peterson next month. I feel that Bradley may be too green to be placed on this list, but If Bradley can get past Peterson in a great showing then at that time Bradley would have proved me right. If Bradley fails, I may be forced to replace Bradley with a Chris John or an Andre Ward.
9. Juan Manuel Marquez- Was out boxed and beaten bad by Floyd, but if Marquez is able to move back down to his original fighting weight at 135, that is where Marquez fights best. At 135, Marquez is a real problem for everybody in the division.
10. Chris John- Was held to a draw against the always game Juarez in Texas, all John did next was fight Juarez again and made things right by outclassing Rocky to remain unbeaten.
Random Thoughts
Word has it that Ward is a special talent- Andre Ward in my opinion should now be considered as one of the best pure boxers in the sport today. Ward’s jab to the body is very Floyd Mayweather like. When the tourney was first announced, I picked Kessler to win it all, after seeing yesterdays thrashing, I now feel that the favorites to take it all will boil down to Arthur Abraham or Andre Ward. I can see Ward outboxing Froch, Direll, and Taylor but I keep getting stuck on Abraham. Against the defensive shield of Abraham it will be tough for Ward or anybody to get around that shield. Kudos to Ward for a masterful performance and thank you for finally giving us an American on the score board. Keep it up Dre.
Mayweather Jr. deserves the Lions share over Pac-Man, Are you kidding me?- No way does Floyd deserve the lions share over Pacquiao. Had Mayweather Jr. never retired or went on his little leave of absence as I call it, then maybe then he can ask for the lions share. Now however, is not the time to be acting silly, Pac-Man has been the one dismantling guys like Oscar, Hatton, and Cotto, Pac-Man has been performing like a Terminator. What has Floyd done lately? I know and you all should know that the only reason why Floyd even went on his leave of absence in the first place is so he wouldn’t have to fight guys like Cotto, Mosley, Margarito, Clottey, or Paul Williams. Floyd was hoping that all those fighters had either fought each other already to add more wear and tear on them or would have already moved on. You can’t leave all that on the table and walk away then come back and face a lightweight and not even knock this lightweight out and then make a silly statement that you deserve the bigger purse. Then Floyd has the nerve to say that it was just him all by himself that did 1 million buys against Marquez, are you kidding me? On a loaded card like that and you fighting a Mexican on Mexican Independence weekend did those numbers, not just you. At this point since I know that history needs this fight, I would say just do it 50-50, just so we can see this Pound for Pound clash.
Pac-Man on juice? I don’t think so- Anytime that we see a force that we fear or not understand, we automatically assume that foul play is being used to help register such brutal performances. We can say well Pac-Man has never cleaned out a division, we can say that, and you would be right by saying that, but to assume that foul play is being used, I just don’t agree with that. I feel that the reason why Pac-Man was able to walk through Cotto had a lot more to do with weight than with Juice. In watching the fight, Cotto had some power on his punches but not the same power he holds when making 147. Cotto didn’t look as strong as he looked against bigger men like Clottey, Margarito, or Mosley ask yourself why that was. Would the fight had been different if it had been fought at 147? Maybe, but maybe not. Point is that you can question weight if you want because after all to all you that keep saying 145 is only 2 pounds, well if it’s only 2 pounds as you say then why not fight at 147? What I’m saying is that one can Question weight if you want but please don’t try to piss on the beautiful painting on display by questioning a warriors integrity. All this juice talk first came up by Floyd Sr. it doesn’t surprise me. Well you know what, it’s very easy to also assume that Floyd Jr. is also taking juice because how else can someone run for so long without drinking the juice? That’s why he’s undefeated. You see how silly that sounds?
