Laughing Lenny Ellerbe, who is what the Brits would refer to as Floyd Mayweather’s “minder,” is quoted in Tiny Tim Smith’s New York Daily News column Tuesday as saying he does not hear Manny Pacquiao pounding the table.
Ellerbe said that while the public, Pacman promoter Bob Arum and his trainer Coach Freddie oach have said unequivocally that Mayweather is Manny’s next target, he hears no such fighting words from the Pinoy Idol himself.
True enough, but as much as I hate to lean on the hoary clich?, the humble guy from a humble bed does his talking in the ring.
Or maybe I should say he does his talking by making others scream in pain.
You could verify that, sir, with Messrs. Oscar de la Hoya, Ricky Hatton and Miguel Cotto. You could also verify same with Juan Manuel Marquez, knocked on his rear end FOUR times by Megamanny as opposed to ONE time by Mayweather, flash KD in round two.
Pacquiao does not trash talk.
Pacquiao does not “call out” foes.
Pacquiao just does his “job” and does it magnificently.
If you can’t hear Pacquiao by now, maybe you need a checkup from the neck up. Maybe you need to get a hearing aid.
I know you have no vision problems.
So let’s do this the easy way. Just take a close gander at the post fight face on Cotto.
The courageous Cotto is not wearing the snow cap because it’s frosty in San Juan.
He’s not wearing the big shades because the tropical sun is burning his eyes.
Can you hear Manny now?
