Cotto vs. Pacquiao Predictions from the YouTube Boxing Community

“Firepower” is coming to Vegas as Manny Pacquiao and Miguel Cotto are set to face off on Nov 14th at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The title is fitting since both men will definitely come to fight. I for one can’t wait to see the matchup as it will not only provide action, but also drama and suspense based on their advantages and supposed vulnerabilities. No doubt, this is the most anticipated fight of the year and some of the most entertaining broadcasters from the YouTube boxing community are weighing in on the outcome as they eagerly await the final verdict.

“I think Pacman wins with speed and movement, but if he is too aggressive early and goes toe to toe with Cotto, I see Cotto winning the fight. Pacman UD or Late TKO. “

“Everyone would mostly agree to choose Oscar De La Hoya in his prime to defeat Pacman, but I say isn’t Cotto better than a prime Oscar? Hmm?”

“I am picking Miguel Cotto to ‘upset’ Manny Pacquiao. Cotto is a bigger, stronger man with strong boxing skills. We are not talking about a faded and drained Oscar De La Hoya coming to face Manny. Should be a fun fire-fight for about five rounds, before Cotto’s pace and size advantage slow down Pacquiao and set him up for a late fight knockout defeat.”

“Pacquiao ain’t stellar went it comes to boxing skills, but neither is Miguel. Power edge goes to the Puerto Rican; speed goes to the Filipino. I disagree when people say Cotto is the bigger man since there’s not so much difference in their size anyway. Well, Cotto is the natural Welterweight, but looking at Pacquiao, our bodies naturally get bigger, athlete’s especially, as we get older and it’s evident enough how a boxer’s adaptation of a weight class is experimental. So to sum it up, I could care less who’s going up and coming down in weight. The bigger question here is ‘THE SKILLS.’ I predict Pacquiao will take this because he is faster, has better footwork; yeah he gets off balance at times, but that was during Morales, Barrera and the Marquez rivalries and we evidently see how Pacquiao learns and gets better in every fight. His power is yet to be discovered at this first real fight at welterweight, but I believe Manny will devastate Miguel with in-and-out, volume punching and his unpredictable movement. Yeah, Miguel is strong, but so is Morales, Diaz, Hatton, Solis, Larios and many more. Pacquiao will win via KO in 8th round or TKO in 8th round PERIOD! If I get it wrong, well, I’m no fortune teller, but I’m confident that Pacquiao got this one. “

“I see Pacquiao winning by late-round stoppage or KO. Pacquiao has the clear speed advantage in this fight. Miguel Cotto on the other hand will come into the ring as the naturally larger man, having fought at junior welterweight and welterweight for his entire career. He also has superior boxing skills. However, Pacquiao is the more dynamic offensive fighter. In my opinion, Cotto is easy to hit and Pacquiao will take advantage on that.”

“If Cotto avoids getting cut, he will adjust accordingly and beat Manny Pacquaio”

“I pick Cotto by KO because he’s the natural welterweight. He’s been hit by bigger punches from larger men. His jab will be the determining factor, because he’s shown that his jab can control the pace of the whole fight. Good luck to both men. Props to Manny for the history seeking challenge; he will indeed go down as one of the best of all time.”

“Alright! Pacquiao vs. Cotto! All that comes to my mind is explosive. The outcome is hard to say because what these two warriors bring to the table every night. We all know the Pacman is fast, there’s no doubt about that, but does he have the power at Welter? Oscar’s recent interview says he doesn’t, but he could be sour from that loss which sent him into retirement. Another question would be if Pacquiao would be able to take the punishment cotto brings to every fight, because Cotto isn’t the fighter to knock you out cold like a Felix Trinidad; he is more of a punisher. The accumulation of his shots is what takes these fighters down. As for Cotto, the questions are is he mentally scared from Margarito? Is he damaged goods or overrated? Will Miguel Cotto be able to keep up the pace of the fight if it stays at the tempo that Pacquiao is used to? And can Cotto be able to neutralize the speed that Pacquiao brings like he did to Mosley?”

That’s why this fight is so interesting because if you ask anyone a year ago if Pacquiao could beat Cotto, everyone would laugh and say Cotto all the way, no fair, but it’s crazy how so much can change in a year and have everyone on the edge of their seats waiting to see who is going to come out victorious.

Now for who I have as the winner its tough because of the styles and who is able to carry out their fight plan. I have made my decision on seeing Cotto as the winner in this fight because like I said whoever is able to carry out their plan should be in a dominant position to win the fight but the thing is if Cotto establishes his plan then it should be a victory for Cotto and if Pacquiao establishes his plan then he should win so it’s more about who can adjust and make changes and be able to adapt to the fight if it doesn’t go their way and we all know that’s something that Miguel cotto has shown us time and time again. We saw it in the Torres, Judah, Mosley, and Clottey fight that cotto can adapt to the fight and bring it back to his fight plan. I see the first round as Pacquiao using a lot of his speedy punches and Cotto showing us the tight defense he displayed in the first round against Clottey and just waiting to throw a couple of jabs. Second round about the same with cotto walking in a little more and throwing a couple one two combination while Pacquiao is connecting every now and then. For the third round I see cotto trying to establish his fight plan by coming in with the jab and throwing hooks to the body and head while Pacquiao tries to circle him and throw his combinations. As for the fourth round I see Cotto trying to be really aggressive, but smart at the same time only taking a little bit of punishment while dishing out a lot more and the announcers saying “Now we got ourselves a fight”. As for the mid part of the fight it will be back and forth but a little more favoring Cotto but Pacquiao still in there doing his thing as well. As for the late rounds this is when it gets good because if Pacquiao didn’t go to the body because of not wanting to get his then you got a fresh Cotto out for the kill and he will turn it up another level and start stalking Pacquiao and possibly drop him once via body shot and I’m confident that Pacquiao will get up and start trying to use his legs a little more and possibly making it to a decision but I’m positive that Pacquiao will try and engage every now and then and cotto will just wear him down and the ref will stop it in the 10th or 11th. And both fighters will show how intense the fight was by just looking at their faces. but i am not counting Pacquiao out because he brings a lot of speed into this fight and just because cotto was able to neutralize Mosley’s speed doesn’t mean it can happen to Pacquiao manly because he doesn’t really get tired and can keep throwing punches and could overwhelm Cotto and win a clear decision where Cotto only landed a couple of punches. So anything can happen in this fight. I’m just saying this off the top of my head what I believe is going to happen.

Now for something a little weird, before the Pacquiao vs. Oscar fight, I believed Oscar was going to win, but as stated in a video, I had a dream in which Pacquiao beat him down, but I didn’t change my mind, stuck with Oscar and we all know what happened. Hahaha. Well, while I’m currently deployed to Africa, besides work, all I do is read and read about this great fight so one night, I have a dreamt about this fight and it was a clear dream where Miguel Cotto was winning this fight clearly from the start of round one by showing great defense and cutting off the ring nicely. Will that actually happen? Probably not, but it is strange that I had the dream.
