Additionally, Roach is currently training Manny Paquiao (38-2-1; 30 KO’s) at his gym in Los Angeles for his upcoming bout with Juan Manuel Marquez (42-2; 33 KO’s) on May 8th. Of Paquiao, Roach assesses: “Manny is looking great. He is working so damn hard and he’s so focused. It’s almost like a contest between him and Virgil in who can out-work each other. But, it was reported that Manny was fat and out of shape. I don’t know how something like that got started because Manny weighed himself today and he’s 130 pounds. He’s running in the mountains every morning and we started sparring two days ago. In fact, he broke the ribs of one of his sparring partners on his first day of sparring. It was just one of those shots. But, it’ll be a great fight. It’s a difficult fight, but Manny says ‘line them up!’ he’s not scared of anybody.”
