During the final press conference for Miguel Cotto and Manny Pacquiao’s Saturday night fight super fight in Las Vegas, Nevada, promoter Bob Arum noted that the mainstream media had taken notice of boxing once again due to the bouts popularity.
Yes Mr. Arum, boxing has hit the mainstream masses once again, but not thanks to you, Mr. Cotto, or Mr. Pacquiao.
Once again, and at the most inopportune time for the sport, Mike Tyson made the local and national news outlets. This time around Tyson was jailed for an airport scuffle with a paparazzi photographer. The incident landed Tyson in an airport holding cell, before he was booked and release.
Another black eye for boxing, while the sport was humming of the high produced by anticipation for on the best fights of the decade.
