Pacquiao vs Cotto – When the fight was first announced, it appeared that just about everybody outside of Puerto Rico was sure that Pac-Man will surely be victorious. As time passed by, many boxing fans all over began to switch over to the Boriqua Bomber as their man to take it. Here we are a day away and it seems to me that the tide is turning and many more are now going back to their original pick of picking the Pac-Man to gobble up the Boriqua Bomber. Both fighters rank in my top 5 as being some of my favorites. Because of that, it made it very hard for me to pick a winner. At the end of it all, I went with the Boriqua Bomber to stop the Pac-Man Express dead in it’s tracks in 9 brutal entertaining rounds. I look at it like this, speed kills right? Well, it is true in many cases, but for Pac-Man to be successful in this clash, Pac-Man will need the speed of his feet to carry him through to victory. Many feel that Pac-Man having more speed will be able to tee off and land at will on Cotto, that is true but it’s how he does it that will be the key. Pac-Man will have to keep his feet moving here, there, everywhere as he stays punching to not allow Cotto to get set. Can Pac-Man do this? Absolutely. Can he do it for the entire fight? Now that is the real question. I simply feel that Pac-Man’s pride will make him stop to tee off and it will be then that Cotto will land one or two flush and the plan then goes out the window. Pacquiao has taken clean shots from Morrales, Barrera, and Marquez but those are 130-135 pounders. Where with Cotto, Cotto has taken shots from Judah, Mosley, and Clottey all true welters. How will Pacquiao react The second that he feels a punch from a real welterweight? That is where the truth really lies. Everybody has a plan, until they get hit.
Spectacular 6 Tourney at 140- Word has it that the great minds are cooking up a dish to serve us all another great tournament to take place at 140. If this is true, who shall go into the pot to make this fine dish blazing hot? For starters, we need guys that can talk it up, now I realize that some don’t like talkers. Allow me to help you appreciate the talk a bit more. Now we all know that in the ring the fist does the talking, so what these showmen that you call shit talkers are doing is talking it up to help sell the fight, to get more people interested, to make fans out of people that normally wouldn’t watch our sport. The showmen we need in this tourney to do just that is Paulie Malignaggi and Zab Judah. Paulie and Zab are both fighters that take on tough tasks, they entertain us not just outside the ring but also inside the ring. We also need the stories of Victor Ortiz and Marcos Maidana, two fighters who gave us 6 brutal rounds of total bliss. We also need international fighters like Amir Khan and the Arthur Abraham of this tourney, Abraham was not a 168 pounder before but he carried the power with him to 168 and is a for sure a 168 pounder now. That man is Edwin Valero, the knockout king from Venezuela. The exciting thing about this tourney is that you can have a great group by mixing it up, if you don’t like my 6, you can add in Juan Manuel Marquez, who I think should be fighting at 135, but hey, I could be wrong. Imagine a fight in a huge coliseum in Mexico if Marquez is in. You can add in Juan Diaz into the mix, his style is exciting enough to get him in also. Timothy Bradley, may be the best of the bunch but I see him as the Lucian Bute of the bunch, too busy at the time to get involved. We can even add in Juan Urango, this guy can really punch, Imagine Urango versus Valero, WOW! No matter what 6 you come up with, this tournament will be Spectacular.
No Love for Bad Chad Dawson?- Everywhere that I have read lately, I am reading that writers and fans feel that yes, Chad really did beat Johnson this time but it was a total snore fest. Whatever happened to beating a man using your best strengths? When Castillo and Floyd fought the first time, I feel as many others out there that Castillo beat that ass, in the rematch, Floyd used his strengths to fight Castillo with movement, speed, and distance to take it. We had no problem with it then, so why with Chad? I simply feel that alot of judges and writers just appreciate Floyd’s work but not others. You look at Floyd versus Oscar, that is the cleanest looking face on Oscar since his very early fights. I felt and saw that a ton of those Floyd shots were peing picked off by Oscar’s gloves yet Harold Lederman and other judges will 9 times out of 10 see otherwise and will ride Floyd all night long and just about give him every single round in the book. Yet when Andre Dirrell, Chad Dawson and recently David Haye use their better strengths to defeat bigger stronger men, they get the book thrown at them, and are then called snoozers and dull. These same critics praise the words ” Clean effective punching”, well Dirrell landed clean effective shots on Froch, as did Haye on Valuev, heck Valuev couldn’t even catch Haye as was the case when Floyd ran away from Baldomir but they sure did give Floyd every round now didn’t they? Yet, when Haye does it, it’s called running and the win is then considered a gift. I felt that Bad Chad Dawson landed clean effective shots on Johnson and for doing just that, Dawson is now considered dull? Give me a break. ”Give me a break, break me off a piece of that Kit Kat bar!” [Sorry, I couldn’t resist]
Money May & His Next Bank Robbery- We all very well know that Money May should fight the Pacquiao/Cotto winner or the Mosley/Berto winner. I however do not see Floyd stepping up. I feel that Floyd will go towards conquering New York then will go on a World Tour. Money May has his eyes set on the Khan/Salita winner. If Salita wins, Floyd will face Salita in the new Billion dollar Yankee Stadium, home of the champs. Money May and Co. will then build up Salita as this great undefeated fighter, Floyd right now is praying Salita wins so that he can be the first to hang an L on Salita to then kick off the World Tour. Floyd will then travel to Mexico to face and beat the very young and very green undefeated Saul Alvarez [My red headed cousin]. From there Floyd will then go on to wrap up the tour by facing the undefeated Senchenko from the Ukraine or, Selcuk Aydin who is also undefeated who fights out of Germany or, will face the young undefeated Kell Brook who is from the UK, UK is a place that Floyd loves because for some strange reason the people of the UK love him. Floyd would love for this to happen because #1. All these fighter at the present time are undefeated, so Floyd would love to trick us all into believing he just beat somone great. #2. Because all these places mentioned have huge boxing followings and even bigger stadiums, so the purse at the gate alone brings Mucho Dinero, and #3. most important of all, not one of these opponents will bring any risk to the table.
