Enrique Ornelas is about to enter boxings center stage when he steps into the ring on December 2nd in Philadelphia to face the Executioner Bernard Hopkins. The bout is labeled as a tune up fight for Hopkins who is set to fight Roy Jones Jr. early next year. Ornelas has other plans, the 29 year old with a record of 29-5-19 KOs, does not care what the critics have to say “I know exactly who I’m facing in Bernard and I will stick to the plan of wining the fight”.
Below is the full exclusive one and one interview with the upset minded Enrique Ornelas:
DB-So Enrique, I am hearing that you and your brother Librado will soon be starting camp together to prepare each other for your big tests coming up, any truth to this?
EO-Yes it is true that we will be working side by side for motivation and support to each other, but not really sparring with each other much
DB- I remember Shane Mosley telling me before that you two have sparred with one another and Shane told me that you are a big ass bull that keeps coming forward, have you and Shane had the chance to spar against one another since then?
EO- well the last time I sparred with him was for his fight with Margarito. I have seen him and been up there with him but not much sparring between us.
DB- We all know that Bernard Hopkins is a legend, how do you prepare for someone who has pretty much seen every style out there?
EO- I think we must start with the basic and go from there try to out smart him witch will be a hard test to do but not impossible.
DB- Does it anger you when people are out there calling this fight a tune-up fight for Hopkins?
EO-It does not anger me at all I now my position very well and if he takes me lightly then it well all just work to my favor.
DB- I would imagine that all that tune-up talk will push you that much harder in camp so you can wreck Hopkins plans to fight Jones, I mean anything is possible, Bernard is going on 45 and hasn’t fought since like last October, maybe your aggressive style of fighting will be the cause to make this legend age over night, what do you think?
EO- I just try not to get involved with what the critics have to say I know exactly who I’m facing in Bernard and I will stick to the plan of wining the fight. The fact that Bernard is 44 has no meaning to me I will be ready to face the beast Bernard I have seen on Dec 2nd.
DB- As mentioned before, your brother has a big test in front of him as well in Bute, how would you fight the countering southpaw if you were to fight Bute?
EO- I really can’t tell how to fight Bute I haven’t thought about it, I think My brother found the key to beat him the last time now I know he will do it sooner then the last time.
DB- Thank you so much for the interview, do you have any closing thoughts that you would like to add?
EO- I’m really grateful I now Bernard made a choice and I don’t want to disappoint him I want to win the fight and know it will be hard but not impossible…
