LITTLE MORE THAN THREE WEEKS ‘TILL COTTO-PAC
San Francisco, CA- There again appears to be a “disconnect” between reality and the fans of the world’s preeminent fighter Manny Pacquaio. Yeah, I know the Philippines has little to offer as far as the world stage of athletics is concerned, but with boxers like Nonito Donaire, Donnie Nietes and Ana Julaton, it is not like the country won’t have any significant boxers if Manny were to lose come November 14 when he challenges Miguel Cotto for a welterweight (147 lbs) title.
NOT END OF THE ROAD FOR MANNY OR COTTO
Is the bubble that Manny Pacquiao fans exist in about to burst? His followers, albeit an entire country in addition to millions worldwide, need to acknowledge the superstar status that Miguel Cotto has is well earned. His lone loss was a very controversial fight against Antonio Margarito, a man that should be in prison in both New York and California.
CLEARLY COTTO WAS HIT WITH LOADED HANDS
When Antonio Margarito was caught in January just prior to his fight with Shane Mosley, one where he was witch slapped throughout before being KO’d, he had a pair of “plaster pads” in his possession. One had already inserted into his wrapped hand, this before Mosley’s trainer Nazeem Richardson demanded that the hand be unwrapped as it was not done in his presence.
THEN THE SPIT THEN HIT THE FAN
Once this was done, the cat was out of the bag per se and Margarito, a limited brawler was exposed as a cheat and a Felon. And yet nobody in law enforcement really did anything. He wasn’t charged with 245 A of the California Penal Code, Assault with a Deadly Weapon, in fact no criminal charges were lodged against Marga-cheato or his scumbag trainer Javier Capetillo.
IS IT IGNORANCE OR GREED WITH ARUM? OR BOTH?
It should be noted that Marga-cheato’s promoter Bob Arum (who also promotes Cotto and Pacquiao) is a man whose firm Top Rank was ever so close to being shutdown by Federal officials in the Operation Matchbox sting a few years ago, Arum insanely claimed that Marga-cheato and Capetillo were being singled out because they were Mexican! Having never had more than a thimble of respect for the Harvard alumni and ex-US Attorney, these actions proved to me that the thimble has long been empty and that Arum in my mind is nothing more than a pompous rich piece of….you know…work!
ARUM DISSED COTTO BY SUPPORTING THE CHEATER
I will now present the evidence, compelling in my mind that Cotto was the victim of the plaster pads that Margarito was caught with in the dressing room prior to his being massacred by Mosley. The plaster pads had blood on them! Simple minded folks, and there are some out there, were of the opinion that the blood on the pads were from Cotto.
BLOOD DOESN’T FLOW THROUGH BOXING GLOVES
Then I reminded them that Cotto’s blood could not permeate through the gloves, or the gauze wraps that encompassed Marga-cheato’s hands. Therefore, the blood had to have come Marga-cheato’s knuckles/hands. And seeing it isn’t likely Antonio used the plaster pads in training, this means that they were used in a prior fight.
AND THE OBVIOUS CONCLUSION IS…
Seeing Cotto-Marga-cheato was in July 2008, that being the Mexican’s most recent/prior fight to Mosley, it doesn’t take Sherlock Holmes to conclude that Cotto was in fact a victim of Felony Assault in New York where the fight occurred.
“WE THE PEOPLE” WILL THWART BOB ARUM’S PLANS
In December, we will put up a petition asking that Marga-cheato and Capetillo not be re-licensed in February 2010, as they, with Boob Arum behind them, are going to ask the California Athletic Commission to reinstate the felonious pair. My hope is that we start both a firestorm and at the same time have enough signatures to have Marga-cheato’s ban continued.
PINOYS BETTER HOLD ON TO THEM PESOS
As for the sometimes erratic fans of Manny Pacquiao that think he will cut through Miguel Cotto like he did a weight drained Oscar De La Hoya, and the boxing-ignorant and limited talent that is Ricky Hatton, better hold on to your Pesos this time and just enjoy the drama that Cotto-Pacquiao is certain to be.
