Filipino boxing star Manny Pacquiao allayed fears that he is out of shape telling skeptics that he and his handlers are aware of his coming fights and how best to prepare for them.
Pacquiao gave the assurance after receiving the prestigious Ring Featherweight championship belt from Ring magazine editor Nigel Collins during brief ceremonies in Malacanang witnessed no less by President Arroyo and her husband Mike.
Smartly clad in a blue suit, Pacquiao got the much-talked about belt in the presence of Manila Mayor Lito Atienza and Manila-based American journalist Ted Lerner who organized Collins? Philippine visit supported by PAGCOR, Viva Sports and Reli Tours and Travel Agency.
Later in the day, Pacquiao also received the key to the City of Manila of which he is an adopted son, from Mayor Atienza.
Talking later to reporters, Paquiao said, “Hindi ako nagku-kumpyansa pero hindi din ako nagpapabaya. Huwag kayong mag-alala at alam na namin ang gagawin sa mga susunod kong laban.”
