Golden Boy Promotions has informed Boxingtalk.com that 122-pound kingpin Oscar Larios wants nothing more than a shot at Manny Pacquiao on May 22. Larios is slated to defend his WBC title in Japan next month, and if he wins as expected, he’ll be 100% ready, willing and able to make the Pacquiao fight happen ASAP. As has been widely reported, Pacquiao’s representatives have been feverishly working on the best 126-pound fight in the world, the showdown for featherweight supremacy against WBA/IBF champ Juan Manuel Marquez, who we understand is not pleased with the money he’s been offered. Team Marquez wants Pacquiao money ($1M) and they’re having a hard time understanding why Pacquiao should earn so much more dinero, (we hear slightly more than double) when they’re the ones holding two-thirds of the undisputed featherweight championship of the world. Understandable. But Marquez should also understand that they need Pacquiao a lot more than Pacquiao needs him. If Pacquiao-Marquez cannot be finalized, look for Golden Boy promotions to push for Pacquiao Vs. Larios on May 22.
