JUAN MANUEL Marquez, the reigning featherweight champion of the World Boxing Association and the International Boxing Federation, believes he should get more money than Filipino boxing superstar Manny Pacquiao if they are to fight on May 22.
In an interview by Mexican sports editor Ramiro Gonzales, Marquez said his scheduled bout versus Pacquiao may fall through because of issues regarding their respective purses.
Pacquiao is haggling for a $1-million purse while Marquez, being the WBA/IBF title holder, believes he should have more than what the Filipino star will get in their planned 12-round title bout.
The 25-year-old Pacquiao along with business manager Rod Nazario is currently in New York to finalize a deal with HBO regarding a scheduled May 22 bout.
The 30-year old Marquez also belittled Pacquiao?s stunning 11th-round destruction of Mexican idol Marco Antonio Barrera late last year.
