Reigning IBF and WBA featherweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez seemed to be playing hard-to-get after the Mexican dynamite pronounced in a hardline rhetoric yesterday that he is not keen on risking his pair of crowns to Filipino boxing superstar Manny ?The Destroyer? Pacquiao unless HBO will earmark a reasonable purse for him.
Marquez, in an interview with La Opinion sports editor Ramiro Gonzalez, asserted that being the legitimate title-holder of two prestigious organizations, he deserved to earn an equitable share of prize money for the planned May 22 blockbuster showdown pitting him with the consensus people?s world featherweight king Pacquiao.
?I know that Manny is a good warrior, but as of the moment, he does not have anything. In this case, I am the double champion, and supposedly he would have to weigh more,? Marquez told La Opinion.
