If you thought that the things would settle down between Boxing and the UFC after the head to head match up between Mayweather and UFC 103, think again. In fact, it’s only going to heat up… Things will get even more serious and more competitive. Let’s examine the aftermath of this head to head battle between Boxing’s Mayweather vs. Marquez and UFC 103.
Entertaining
Which event was more entertaining?
The majority of casual fans, and Mayweather haters, will tell you that the Mayweather vs. Marquez fight was boring. In fact, I was one of the first individuals to get on the internet and post how boring the fight was.. 12 rounds of unentertaining boxing. There might have been a few seconds here and there that were exciting but nothing to warrant spending 50 bucks.
Unlike the boxing event, UFC 103 was entertaining for it’s 2 plus hours of fighting. The event had drama, excitement, surprise, and satisfaction. That’s entertainment my friends, not 12 rounds of dancing. If I want to watch dancing, I can watch Dancing with the Stars…
Boxing needs to ensure a more entertaining product by creating better fights… IF they don’t, then they will be in big trouble..

Potential
Who has more Potential in putting on future events that will be exciting?
Now boxing has potential of putting on some exciting fights. Pacquiao vs. Mayweather would be the definition of exciting.. But will it happen? I truly believe it will not happen. Outside of those two boxers, who else would really create a buzz that transcends the die-hard boxing community into the mainstream?
UFC has more potential to put on events that will transcend the die-hard MMA communities into the mainstream. They know how to create stars and they know how to market them. Here’s a quick list of MMA fighters that are mainstream material: Brock Lesnar, Randy Couture, Ken Shamrock, Tito Ortiz, Chuck Lidell, and that doesn’t even include other MMA promotions.
I think it’s clear; UFC has a ton more potential for good fights and exciting events than boxing does.
PPV Buys
Who will have more PPV buys?
PPV buys haven’t been officially released yet.. But early reports and rumors say that boxing will draw at least 1 million PPV buys. You can’t argue with those numbers if they are true.
Since UFC doesn’t have to officially release the information on their PPV buys, it will be difficult to compare the two. However, if you look at the average of the last several PPVs, it’s clear that the UFC will be close but not close enough..
Mayweather proved that he is still a boxing name and a PPV draw.

Ever since UFC and boxing went head to head, the insults have been hurled at MMA fighters that boxing is an art form and MMA is a bunch of guys lying around hugging eachother. Let me respond with this; MMA stands for Mixed Martial Arts. Pay close attention to the last word “Arts”. Where does boxing say it’s an art?
Yeah I know that’s a childish response but I’m just getting started.. Most MMA fighters have to learn how to fight standing up and on the ground. In fact, they have to know how to strike with their hands, elbows, knees, and feet. Boxing can only use their hands..
Lastly, have you ever trained in multiple martial art forms? I have personally trained in jujitsu, akido, and arnis… Each style is unique, and for the most part, a different fighting style. Jujitsu and kung fu are two unique styles and take a lot of skill to master each one of them. In my opinion, this would mean there’s more skills involved in learning multiple fighting styles than just one. Many top MMA fighters know how to perform several fighting styles like jujitsu, karate, and judo, where boxers really only know how to perform just one…

Do you think that September 19th’s head to head battle will add fuel the fiery feud?
I think this head to head battle will only serve to push Dana White and the UFC more and more to want to destroy boxing.. Just check out some the comments Dana White said after the fight..
“It sucked just like I thought it would, just like I knew it would,”
“It was a horrendous. It went to a 12-round boring decision.”
Does this sound like a man who’s going to let things die down between the two sports? I don’t think so.. If anything, this sounds like a man who has found an enemy to focus on.. An enemy to fuel his drive.. Competition brings out the best and the worse in people… But the UFC finally has found a suitable competitor..
The UFC will start putting on shows vs. boxing and they will start loading them with big names… UFC did a great show at UFC 103 and it didn’t have any of their top fighters on the card.. I don’t see that happening again.. In fact, on November 14th when boxing and the UFC go head to head again, UFC added one of their top names in Randy Couture.. This signifies MMA’s commitment to strategically combat boxing..
Things are starting to heat up, my friends… There will be a war between these two sports.. I do believe MMA will come out ahead.. If you don’t think that a war will happen, then you underestimate the all-mighty dollar and what it can do to people.. Just ask Mayweather… He’ll tell you all about it..
