Manny Pacquiao’s trainer Freddie Roach praised his fighter’s next opponent Miguel Cotto as one of the best there is as the press conference tour reached Puerto Rico ahead of their November 14 showdown in Las Vegas.
Speaking in Cotto’s native island, Roach paid tribute to the WBO welterweight champion in front of hundreds of his adoring fans.
“This is boxing at its best. We want to fight the best in boxing and one of those is Miguel Cotto.”
Roach, considered by many to be the best boxing coach in the business, planned the downfall of Ricky Hatton when Pacquiao destroyed The Hitman in two rounds back in May and is hoping to do the same of Cotto.
“I know Miguel Cotto better than anybody right now. I’ve been watching videos of his fights for a month straight now,” said Roach who predicts Pacquiao will win the fight with a tenth round knockout.
Cotto welcomed his opponent to his country before making a prediction of his own.
“I welcome Manny Pacquiao to Puerto Rico and he is always welcome here.
“On November 14th we are both seeking victory. I’m confident that I will return to Puerto Rico on November 15th with my title.”
Pacquiao, on the other hand, was keeping his cards close to his chest, but maintained that the fans would be in for a great fight.
“No one knows who is going to win this fight. We are both going deliver our best efforts which will give the fans an excellent show.”
